San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick continues to show that he’s not a cerebral signal-caller and struggles to read opposing defenses.
But there are still situations that any quarterback at the professional level needs to identify and exploit for big plays, like when your receiver is completely uncovered with plenty of real estate in front of him.
Check out wide receiver Torrey Smith waving his hands before the ball was snapped on one particular play in Sunday’s game against the Rams. Smith was uncovered with no defensive back even in the area, yet Kaepernick stuck with the run play that was called and didn’t audible to hit his receiver for what could’ve been a big gain on a blown coverage.
Smith, understandably, was not happy about it afterwards, as he jumped up and down and threw a tantrum.
