One would think Kobe Bryant is more popular than Conor McGregor.
Apparently not.
Bryant, one of the greatest NBA players of all time, just hung up the sneakers after a lengthy farewell tour. Folks will remember back in 2015 when he beat out every athlete on the planet with ease when it came to retweets:

One doesn’t have to look very hard to see Bryant’s been had, though.
McGregor’s shocking retirement sent such a pulse through the sporting realm that he took down Bryant with ease:
I have decided to retire young.
Thanks for the cheese.

Alrighty then.
Maybe surprise was the biggest element here. Folks expected Bryant to give it up for years given the injuries and the state of affairs around him. McGregor, on the other hand, was in his prime.
Still, it’s wild to think about an MMA star taking down the Black Mamba. Kudos to McGregor, though.
Oh, and maybe UFC should just give the man the cash he wants—McGregor clearly has insane drawing power.
