If someone were to reside in the union of a Venn diagram made up of baseball memorabilia collectors and real estate moguls…I’m guessing this would be the Holy Grail of purchases.
A former home of Lou Gehrig is up for sale and if you’ve got $399,000, it could be yours. The New York Yankees star first baseman bought the four bedroom, three bathroom home for his parents in 1928, but Gehrig lived there for five years as well.
“Gehrig was a cheapskate and never spent money,” the Hall of Famer’s biographer said. “But this was right after The Babe retired, and (Gehrig) was just named captain and received a raise. He was secure financially and decided to spring for a house in the burbs.”
The 2522 square foot home has an entry foyer, living room with a fireplace, eat-in kitchen, formal dining room and a one-car garage. It is being sold “as is”.
