You could call Jose Canseco’s post-baseball career a “traveling sideshow” and, honestly, you’d be spot on.
The 52-year-old’s latest journey has him pitching for the Pittsburg Diamonds and serving as the team’s part-time designated hitter. And while Canseco’s performance on the field has been lackluster, off the field…he’s made a few headlines.
First, the embattled slugger was the victim of a robbery. Canseco recently woke up to learn his SUV had been broken into and his bats stolen. Thankfully, they were recovered.
Sunday, the 2016 Hall of Very Good inductee lost a home run derby against two local high schoolers.
According to the Diablo Gazette, a pair of Clayton Valley high schoolers bested eight other high school duos for the right to challenge the 1988 American League MVP. While Canseco started strong in batting practice, when it came to the actual derby…dude fell short to the team of James Biles and Bill Ralston 4-3.
And how did Canseco take the loss? He was totally cool with it.
Biles and Ralston crushed it ! https://t.co/CxDnvhYDOh

Classy!
I’m not sure what’s next for Canseco, but I like him a lot more as a barnstormer than a wannabe reality star.
