Jake Peavy has been a Grateful Dead fan for years.

In fact, a couple of seasons ago, the San Francisco Giants pitcher even missed a team flight so he could catch a concert.

So it makes sense that, even in the middle of a pennant race (the Giants are currently sitting atop the National League West), that the righty would do everything he could to jam with the Dead’s longtime bassist and founding member Phil Lesh, right?

And that’s exactly what happened Wednesday night.

Following a 6-5 loss to Pittsburgh, Peavy made his way to a Jerry Garcia tribute show and along with his band, The Outsiders, took the stage and played alongside the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. Also on hand for the show, former Giants coach and longtime big leaguer Tim Flannery.

Well. Played.
