Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie QB Jameis Winston looked very sharp on the opening drive of the team’s preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
He completed all three passes he attempted for 27 yards. His reads were sharp and he looked very comfortable making decisions. Sure, it was an exhibition game, but he did not look like a signal caller who hasn’t even had the opportunity to start a regular season matchup yet.
And, most importantly, he finished off the drive like any good quarterback would—with a touchdown.
After a Doug Martin run put the Bucs less than one yard from the end zone, many thought Martin would get one more chance to punch it in. The Bengals must have thought that, too, because when Winston faked a handoff to Jorvorskie Lane on a bootleg and dived for the pylon, he was not denied.
Watch Winston score his first rushing touchdown of his NFL career, and expect many more to come.
