Must be that time of year.
Looking to, no doubt, become a modern day Minnie Minoso, Jose Canseco is again offering up his services to whoever might be listening. Late Saturday night, everyone’s favorite quinquagenarian (and 2016 Hall of Very Good inductee) hit the Twitters…hoping New York Mets COO Jeff Wilpon was listening.
I can take the mets to the promise land Jeff

You might recall a few years ago, when the embattled slugger did the same exact thing to the team’s general manager Sandy Alderson.
Sandy alderson please give me a chance to play first base ,even just a tryout

Despite Mets fans being in support of that move, Alderson, who was with Oakland from 1983 until 1997 and helped build the Athletics into the powerhouse that brought the baseball world both Canseco and Mark McGwire, opted to not bring in Canseco.
The 1988 American League MVP last played Major League ball with the Chicago White Sox in 2001. The next spring, he was signed by the Montreal Expos but was released prior to the regular season. Canseco subsequently retired in May 2002.
This past summer, he showed up with the independent Pittsburg Diamonds. He’d hit .143 in 17 plate appearances, striking out six times and hitting no home runs.
