After an unexpected loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, the Golden State Warriors must win their final four games to set the NBA wins record. But with the playoffs just around the corner, shouldn’t the Warriors be resting players instead of going for broke to get the record? Kobe Bryant, being the competitor that he is, doesn’t think so.
Kobe on GSW: “If I’m them and I’ve got a chance to set a record, I’m trying to set the damn record. I don’t care what anyone else says.”

The Warriors plays home-and-away games against the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies to close out the regular season. San Antonio has an outside chance of taking the No. 1 seed away from Golden State, but head coach Gregg Popovich almost always rests his starters before the playoffs. However, Spurs guard Tony Parker thinks they’ll play against the Warriors.
The Grizzlies, meanwhile, probably won’t rest starters because half their team is injured and they haven’t officially clinched a playoff spot yet.
Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green is ready for the regular season to end and admitted the team might have gotten distracted by reaching 73 wins. But like Kobe says, if you’ve got a chance to set the record and make history, why not go for it?
