Larry David, the genius behind hit series such as “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is a diehard Jets fan. And since the team recently re-signed quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year deal, David offered some advice for him.

David appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show” on Tuesday and claims he has the solution that will help the quarterback dominate his competition this year: Shave the beard.

“I don’t know why Fitzpatrick can’t shave, honestly,” David said, via NJ.com. “Why does he need that beard? That beard really bothers me. I don’t know what this quarterback looks like. Who am I rooting for? Imagine Mickey Mantle with a full beard like that. It would have changed my entire childhood.”

Given David’s shtick, this isn’t really much of a surprise. He would comment on something like Fitz’s appearance. That being said, David is a New Yorker, he should know that beards are in, they are cool and plenty of athletes sport them.

Tell James Harden to shave his beard — see how that goes.
