The Lions captured that elusive first win Sunday, but not all of their fans were allowed to see the entire 37-34 overtime victory over the Bears.
Lions fans Earl Spring and “Detroit Don” were thrown out of Ford Field during the third quarter of the game, according to Bleacher Report, and Spring posted this video on Facebook to vent his frustration.
Perhaps a good title for this rant would be “His Name is Earl.”
Or maybe “Earl and Silent Don.”
OK, so the protocol is for fans to make noise when the visiting team is on offense to make it difficult for everyone to hear the quarterback, then tone it down when their team has the ball. These guys stood up and cheered when the Lions were on defense. But to throw fans out of the stadium for it? That’s a little much.
It seems like especially bad form to throw out a fan who says he’s been to more than 120 games in a row at Ford Field. That means he endured the 0-16 debacle in 2008 and even has his seat number tattooed on his arm.
And this could have been Spring’s only chance this season to witness a victory.
