The Philadelphia 76ers are awful, and the bad news is that they’re not going to get considerably better anytime soon.

General manager Sam Hinkie has put together a team with a model that some would classify as “tanking,” yet others would call it “resetting.” Whatever you want to call it, it’s clear that the Sixers aren’t going to spend money on free agents, and will instead be content with losing plenty of games to land more high draft picks in the future.

Given that model, it’s not surprising that the Sixers have started the season with an awful record. But they’re not just playing poorly, they are downright abysmal, and have now set a record for being the first team in NBA history to lose 29 of their first 30 games to start a season, which is hard to do.

So the Sixers are historically bad, and one of the biggest reasons is how careless they’ve been with the basketball on numerous occasions.

The real question is, are the Sixers actually regressing? They began last season with an 0-19 mark, but finished with an 18-64 record. The team has only two players on the roster older than 24 years of age, and lacks a strong, veteran presence to right the ship and get them trending back in the right direction.
