Prince, one of the most iconic singers of all-time, was found dead at 57 years of age at his Minneapolis estate roughly five weeks ago.
The cause of death has now been ruled an opioid overdose, according to the Associated Press.
The question going forward, is whether he was prescribed those drugs by a doctor, or managed to procure them on his own. Regardless, it’s a sad story surrounding one of the most renowned music icons we’ve ever seen.
It’s no secret that Prince struggled with drugs throughout his career. He was more of an introvert, and valued his privacy. Pundits will make a big deal about this, but it shouldn’t tarnish Prince’s legacy and can’t undo iconic performances such as this one at Super Bowl XLI in 2007.
May he rest in peace.
