A large group of protesters from several states rallied in Minneapolis on Sunday to lobby for the NFL’s Washington Redskins franchise to change its name.

The protesters first gathered at the University of Minnesota’s Northrop Plaza in the morning, and they then marched to TCF Bank Stadium before the Redskins-Vikings game kicked off.

An estimated 3,000 people were in attendance, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Among them were Native American leaders, former athletes, politicians, and other speakers including Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodgeswho reportedly led a “Change the Name” chant.

It was the fourth large local protest against the use of Indian imagery in professional sports since the 1991 World Series when the Twins squared off against the Braves.

A video recently surfaced which shows protesters marching down the streetrallying behind their cause.

Attendees also shared numerous photos on social networking sites. Here’s a short roundup of the most captivating moments from the rally.

It all began here at Northrop Plaza.

Protesters then made their way to the stadium.

…And that’s when the crowd size increased exponentially.

Many participants in the rally such as this woman showed up with signs to voice their opinions. And numerous attendees donned “Rename” apparel or traditional Native American clothing.

And while the speakers came from different walks of life, they all rallied behind the “No honor in racism” slogan.
