Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera had no interest in finishing Monday night’s awful Rams-49ers game, and probably figured if he needed info in the future, he could just go back and watch the tape.
The defensive-minded Rivera certainly has an affinity for hard-nosed, physical defense, but he probably wasn’t enthralled by Blaine Gabbert and Case Keenum going toe-to-toe, which is understandable, because Keenum was abysmal in that game.
Ron Rivera, like you, fell asleep during Rams-49ers https://t.co/DYk3D5zi1P pic.twitter.com/Gg1Pb9MJUj

In Rivera’s defense, the game wasn’t over until 1:15 a.m. ET, so it was late for him. And he did make it through three quarters at least.
“Unfortunately, I stayed up and watched,” he said. “And the reason why I say unfortunately is I fell asleep somewhere in the beginning of the fourth quarter. But I got to see three quarters of it.”
I don’t blame Rivera, and wish I hadn’t had to stay up. That was one of the worst games I’ve seen in recent memory.
