Rory McIlroy rarely uses a 3-iron. And after watching what happened Friday during the second round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship, it may be a long time until he uses one again.
McIlroy struggled on the eighth hole. And his frustration boiled over during that time when he used a 3-iron for an approach shot. But the ball didn’t end up where he had intended it to land, as it splashed into a pond.
That’s when McIlroy tossed the 3-iron into said pond.

It seemed as if the club toss was cathartic for McIlroy. After bogeying the eighth hole, he finished 2 under par in the last 10 holes.
