There’s a familiar excitement building within the Seattle Seahawks.
The same confidence and zeal that once permeated the franchise’s title winner seems to be consolidating again ahead of the 2016 season.
“It’s a familiar feeling we had when we won the Super Bowl — the positivity and the feelings we had,” receiver Doug Baldwin said, via NFL.com.
All teams are overflowing with belief in August. It’s a time of renewal, when all 32 clubs have a 0-0 record and anything is possible.
But the Seahawks have recently climbed the NFL’s tallest mountain, and few rosters and staffs are more prepared to take a legitimate shot at playing for another Super Bowl in 2016.
“There’s an energy about us that’s very positive and directed toward each other,” Baldwin said. “If you watched the [first preseason] game, you see everybody celebrating on the sidelines like we won the Super Bowl. We have so much positive energy to the younger guys and bouncing off them to the older guys.”
The Seahawks might not be the Super Bowl favorite in the NFC. The Arizona Cardinals likely hold the title, and the Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings all have the right pieces to make a run.
Yet, with the league’s best defense outside Denver and Russell Wilson coming off his best season as a pro, the Seahawks are undoubtedly a top contender.
And Seattle knows it.
Talent and confidence is a scary combination in the NFL. The Seahawks sure appear to have plenty of both as the 2016 season draws ever closer.
