Michael Vick didn’t see much playing time as a member of the New York Jets last season, but he’s still a serviceable backup quarterback.
The Steelers brought him in for a workout today as they recently placed Bruce Gradkowski on injured reserve after he dislocated his left finger. The team agreed to a one-year deal with the 35-year-old veteran.

As the above tweet shows, 2014 wasn’t a great year for Vick. Pro Football Focus slapped a -21.7 grade on him, which was the fourth-lowest among all quarterbacks last season.
Vick was thrown into some tough situations last year as a member of the Jets, with a patchwork offensive line and not too many weapons around him. He finished the season with 604 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Still, Vick has plenty of experience starting under center, and he provides the team with insurance should Ben Roethlisberger go down.
