Former New Orleans Saints safety Steve Gleason was honored with a great tribute before Thursday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Gleason, who suffers from ALS, was in attendance for the game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. And when Michael Mauti blocked Matt Bosher’s punt and returned it for a touchdown in the first quarter of the game, Gleason took to Twitter to weigh in. Remember, Gleason blocked a punt in the team’s first home game following Hurricane Katrina back in 2006, so it’s something he knows a thing or two about.
Since he’s no stranger to special teams, Gleason had some fun at the Falcons’ expense with a few clever tweets.
Hey, Falcons. #NeverPunt -SG

Touchdown @saints. I’m screaming… on the inside!! -SG

The Saints emerged victorious, but it was Gleason’s night. It was fitting that he was honored before the game and the team blocked a punt soon after. Gleason is an inspiration to us all, and the Saints were surely fired up by his presence on Thursday night.
