Pittsburgh Steelers safety Mike Mitchell is now a marked man.
Mitchell delivered a shot to Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith’s back and knocked him out in the end of the third quarter of Thursday night’s game. The two are former teammates as they played together for one season in 2013 with the Carolina Panthers, so they know each other well.
Smith weighed in on how he felt about Mitchell’s hit after the game (via Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun).
“How do I feel? Probably for the first time in my career, I feel like I’m 36,” Smith said after the game. “I got speared in the back by an ex-teammate. I kind of know his character, who he is. After he hit me, he said, ‘How do you like that.’”
“The best thing I can do without threatening him and saying that I will assault him when I see him is I will say, ‘I look forward to playing him again,'” Smith said. “He’s on my lifetime hit list.”

The Steelers play the Ravens again on Dec. 27 at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday Night Football. It’s safe to say Smith has that game circled on his calendar. If I were Mitchell, I would either fake an injury or go into hiding, rather than face Smith again on the field in what will be his final season in the NFL.
