Football is king in Texas. When it comes to a team’s performance, mediocrity will not cut it, as expectations are always high.
So when the Dallas Cowboys suffered a tough 26-20 loss in overtime to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night Football, fans took to Twitter to voice their frustration.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott weighed in about the loss after the game as well, and he did not hold back in a bold tweet about the Cowboys defense.
*#%>¥! @Cowboy defense. More porous than the Texas border.

That didn’t go over well in the Twitterverse. It’s one thing for them to say something snarky about the game, but a politician would likely be better suited taking the high road. So they skewered him.
Rare that a politician owns up to the failure of his campaign promises like this. Cheers, governor pic.twitter.com/W9pt4uhDLJ

@GregAbbott_TX congrats. You are the most embarrassing Texas governor since our last one. Take a bow.

@GregAbbott_TX Mr. Abbot think your great but we got a problem if your letting Texas have a porous border. Aren’t you suppose to fix that?

@GregAbbott_TX @cowboy You are an embarrassment to Texas… so are the Cowgirls. *snickers*

Abbott did not delete the tweet, and has not said anything since.
