Detroit Tigers outfielder Tyler Collins lost a fly ball in the lights during Monday’s game against the Oakland Athletics, and the crowd at Comerica Park showered him with boos as a result.
Collins then responded to the fans, but not in a very tactful manner.
It happened when Marcus Semien hit a fly ball to center in the top of the sixth inning, which dropped for a base hit when Collins lost it in the lights. Justin Upton, who was covering for Collins, had trouble picking it up, and Semien ended up with a triple out of it after the error.

The fans booed, which seemed to anger Collins, so he decided to flip them off. It was caught on the game’s TV broadcast.

Collins probably would’ve been better off taking the high road and owning up to his mistake—without any gestures directed toward the home crowd.
