Tyrod Taylor is a name that has created some buzz in an offseason that has already been buzzing with free agent signings and injuries.

He’s made a serious case to become the starting quarterback in Buffalo, and we here at Guru QB, think in fact, he SHOULD be named the starter.

Why?

1- There’s a ton of excitement in Buffalo right now. Sexy Rexy is the head coach, they landed one of the best running backs in the NFL in LeSean McCoy, they added Charles Clay, a versatile tight end who has 127 catches and 9 touchdowns in the last two seasons, and they have a budding superstar wide receiver in Sammy Watkins. Taylor adds to that excitement right now. He’s a spark plug in the same manner as Tom Brady, Tony Romo, and Colin Kaepernick were.

2- Taylor’s versatility and agility creates opportunities for Buffalo. He’s mobile and he can run. In this day and age, that’s an asset, and because of that, Taylor has the ability to extend drives and create plays. Think Russell Wilson from Seattle.

3- You know what you have in Matt Cassel, so why not roll the dice with Tyrod and see what you can get out of him? This isn’t Houston where both Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett are pretty even, this is one extreme to the next. Cassel is your classic pocket passer, Tyrod is your athletic QB, and Buffalo hasn’t had something like that since the days of Doug Flutie.

Taylor’s play has created a buzz this preseason, and it’s worth a shot to name him the starting QB. If he falters, you’ve got Cassel waiting in the wings. For now however, Tyrod Taylor should be named the starter for the Bills as they head into the 2015 season.
