Derek Jeter had an interesting July 4, getting a ticket from the U.S. Air Force for guiding his boat into a restricted area.
No big deal, Jeter’s human like everyone else. Except one of the officers decided to take the opportunity to use his Boston Red Sox fandom to make a Facebook post (via TotalProSports.com):

Whoops.
“This action is totally inconsistent with Air Force values and the responsible airman will face the appropriate disciplinary action,” MacDill spokesman Terry Montrose said in a news release, per Chron.com. “We sincerely apologize to Mr. Jeter for any inconvenience.”
It seems like a lot of hoopla for a $250 ticket, and is. Per the Tampa Bay Times, the offense is an easy one to commit on accident:
Jeter, who retired as a major-league baseball player in 2014, owns a seven-bedroom, 30,000-square-foot mansion on the eastern shore of Davis Islands, about 5 miles by water northeast of the MacDill boundary.
Signs are posted in the waters 1,000 meters from the MacDill shoreline to warn boaters against entering the restricted area, Montrose said. It’s common for security forces to cite boaters there, he said, adding that it’s “really easy to drift into those waters.”
So again, this is yet another lesson—don’t put anything silly on social media. Not only could it catch fire, it will live forever.
