Wednesday night’s game between the Clippers and Warriors featured one particular call by the officiating crew that made NFL referees look good.
When Warriors guard Stephen Curry set up at the three-point arc, he was determined to drive to the hoop.
So determined that when he put the ball on the floor and began to drive, he elbowed Chris Paul in the face.
Yet somehow, Paul was whistled for the foul. Sure, he may have tripped Curry, but that was after he was knocked down by an elbow to the jaw.
Paul may have embellished it a bit, but the fact remains that he still received an elbow right to his jaw. And sure, the official may have had a bad view of the play from where he was standing, but it was still a poor call. Although, in the NBA, that’s commonplace.
