Following the Chicago Cubs’ 2-0 win over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon, Wrigley Field was evacuated because of an apparent bomb threat.

Scary stuff. Hopefully there isn’t anything to this threat and the bomb squad is able to clear the stadium without any issue.

Imagine how much of a nightmare this would have been if the threat was received before or during the game. Clearing the stadium of both teams and the nearly 40,000 in attendance would have been a much more daunting task than clearing the park of the grounds crew, journalists, and other stadium personnel.

UPDATE: The Cubs released a statement. Everything is fine.

“Following our game this afternoon, we received a bomb threat and took swift action to clear the few remaining fans, players, staff and media from the ballpark. After a thorough search by law enforcement, no evidence was found to suggest this threat was credible. We take safety at Wrigley Field seriously and are working with law enforcement authorities to pursue the person who initiated this threat.”
