It’s now common among fans seated in the outfield to throw home run balls back when a member of the visiting team hits one.
But during the fourth inning of Sunday’s Blue Jays-Yankees game, one fan misfired and delivered some friendly fire, so to speak.
After Jose Bautista hit a home run, the Yankees fan was determined to throw the ball back. So, he or she did. Unfortunately, Brett Gardner got hit by it.
At least Gardner wasn’t hurt by the boneheaded move.
