Enraged? Here’s How to Make a Difference

Kane, Varlamov, Voynov, all reprehensible cases of DV (or possible rape) in the NHL. It’s disgusting that the league has chosen not to take a stand on these issues, but we the fans still can help.

Below is a list of shelters and services for victims of domestic violence and rape in the Bay Area. Sharks fans, if you want to channel your rage into a donation, these links will help you make a difference locally.

I have not personally vetted all these orgs, simply complied the links. I HAVE vetted Next Door, which is a shelter assisting DV victims in San Jose. You can donate to them here. Sharks fans looking to donate in the team’s backyard can start there.

As always, http://hockeyfightsdv.tumblr.com/ is a great place to start AND make a pledge to help raise money to stop DV. You can still love hockey and help victims. Be sure to check them out.

Let’s tell the NHL where we stand with more than just tweets. They need to address the problems with rape and DV culture that exist within the league/sport in general. Victims are fans too, and they deserve to be treated with respect.
