The Emirates Stakes | Horse Racing Tips

Here’s one of the top Australian horse racing tips of the year. The horse racing action from down under figures to be very exciting over the next six weeks. During this time, the nation will get an opportunity to see it’s top horses, trainers and jockeys compete is a series of Group 1 races in both Sydney and Melbourne. Most prominent on the schedule are the Caulfield Cup (Oct. 15), W.S. Cox Plate (Oct. 22) and the world renowned Melbourne Cup (Nov. 1)

Emirates Stakes Day Tips

Punters will want to take note that major changes have been made to the 2016 Melbourne Cup Carnival racing schedule. On the last day (Nov. 5) of the Cup Carnival, the featured race will now be the Group 1 Emirates Stakes to be run at a distance of 2000 meters on grass at the extraordinary Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne. In the past, the race was run as the MacKinnon Stakes on the first day of the carnival. Under the conditions of the race, a field of three-year-olds and up will be lining up under weight for age conditions to run for a purse of AUS$2,000,000.

The Field

The horse racing betting tips figure to be plentiful for this race as the field starts to take shape for this prestigious event, especially since its purse has been increased from AUS1,000,000.  Depending on the outcome of several key races in Sydney and Melbourne during mid October, the complexion of this race could change in a hurry.

Winx: All eyes will be on Winx’s performance in the Oct 22 W.S. Cox Plate. If the amazing mare were to improve her winning streak to 12 races by defending her Cox Plate crown, the Emirates figures to be the next logical step based on indications by her connections. It doesn’t seem likely they would chose to try the staying distance of 3200 meters in the Melbourne Cup. If Winx’s connections do  decide to run there or simply skip the Emirates, the field would be wide open. Otherwise, this could be a great race to pass and just watch.

He’s Our Rokkii: After finishing the last racing season with back-to-back wins in Group 3 events, He’s Our Rokkii had his connections feeling pretty good coming into this spring. The 4-year-old bay gelding has done very little to squelch those feelings after more two consecutive wins in listed events to start off the 2016-17 racing season. It’s time to step up to higher competition with the Group 1 Longines and the Emirates Stakes day tips clearly have on the radar.

The United States: After a disappointing start to the new racing season with a 6th place finish in the Group 2 Dato’ Nan Chin Tam Stakes, the connections will be looking for a better effort in the Cox Plate. Last year’s winner of the Group 1 Rosehill Stakes should have this race penciled in, though avoiding Winx would be a real possibility.

Lucia Valentina: With a nice third behind Black Heart Bart in the Underwood Stakes, Lucia Valentina looks to be rounding back into form. The hard-knocking 6-year-old mare would be a great fit for this race, even with Winx in the mix. After closing out the 2015-16 season with a big win in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, this horse should be considered a contender any time her name hits the nominations list.
As the nation moves towards the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Australian punters should be busy lining up horse racing betting tips from top handicappers. Australian horse racing tips are great tools to use in order to make sure the appropriated amount of handicapping focus is being placed on the horses with the best chances of winning a race like this.
