Monday Night Football Predictions – Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are favored on some of the best sports betting sites online as they host the Philadelphia Eagles on ESPN. The Eagles are coming off an impressive win last week against Cleveland while the Bears looked bad in a loss to Houston. The Eagles could face a more difficult task this week with rookie quarterback Carson Wentz making his first road start. The Bears are listed as 3-point home favorites at the best online sportsbooks.

Chicago Bears -3, total 43

The Eagles looked much better than expected last week in their win over Cleveland as Wentz completed 22 of his 37 passing attempts for 278 yards with two touchdowns. Ryan Matthews had 77 yards in 22 carries while Kenjon Barner had 42 yards on just four carries. Jordan Matthews had a nice opening week with 114 yards and a TD.

The Eagles will not be at full strength this week as starting tight end Zach Ertz is out due to injury. Brent Celek should be getting the start in place on Ertz on Monday. The Eagles allowed two sacks against the Browns and they also allowed five quarterback hits.

The Eagles played really well on defense led by middle linebacker Jordan Hicks who had four tackles and one pass deflection and Nigel Bradham who had five tackles. Connor Barwin had his first sack of the seasons and finished with two tackles. The Eagles will likely be without starting cornerback Leodis McKelvin on Monday.

The Bears struggled on both sides of the ball in Week 1 as the offensive line had trouble protecting Jay Cutler and the defense didn’t make many plays.

“We can’t change what happened,” said wide receiver Kevin White, “So we have to move on and just get ready for the Eagles.” Cutler threw for 216 yards and a TD but he also had an interception and was sacked five times.

“I don’t feel great,” Cutler said. “I didn’t get hit a lot in preseason, so the last time I’ve been hit like that was last year. Usually, you want to build in to these, and then week four and five, when you’ve gotten used to it, take a few shots then. I’ll bounce back pretty quickly though.”

Monday Night Football Picks
The Eagles were a surprise pick by many in online sports betting reviews in Week 1 but they would not be a surprise pick this week.  Going against the public is never a bad idea so I will lay the points and take the Bears in this game.
