Summary:
The franchise-tying seven game win streak has unfortunately come to an end for the Rampage following a 4-3 overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday night. Following two solid periods of play, the Rampage’s defensive mistakes in the third and more aggressive play by the Barons resulted in two goals for the opposition, forcing overtime. The loss came after a defensive mistake by Rocco Grimaldi, who stayed on the ice too long during 3-on-3 play. The Rampage returned on Sunday night to defeat the Iowa Wild 5-4 in a shootout. In a much more spirited appearance, seven different players each got an assist during the four regulation time goals. The second period was the most active with five goals, three of which came from the Rampage. The team finished the game with an impressive 55 shots on goal.
Impact players:
Logan Shaw got on board once again versus the Barons, making it his fifth of the season, as Connor Brickley picked up two assists that night. With Dan Ellis called up to serve as backup in Florida, Michael Houser played both games and was effective in goal. He faced 38 shots and made 34 saves versus the Barons and returned the following night to make 36 saves on 40 shots. He also came up big during overtime versus the Wild, saving a penalty shot following a Rocco Grimaldi tripping penalty. Mark Mancari continued to be crucial to the Rampage’s offense, scoring during the Wild game and the shootout, notching 10 points in his last 6 games (3G, 7A). Additionally, not enough can be said about Drew Shore’s impact, who has 9 points in the last 4 games (3G, 6A).
Upcoming games:
The Rampage next face the Utica Comets on December 5th and the Chicago Wolves on December 7th, both at home. Neither teams are in the West division but stand ahead of the Rampage in conference standings. With the Barons’ win over the Comets last night, the Rampage slide to second in the West division and fifth in conference (13–6–1–0).
