Cat Tracks: Florida Panthers (3) @ Columbus Blue Jackets (4) (SO)

Normally a game is the thing you talk about on a game day. Today, however, it is ancillary to all the trade action that went down this afternoon. Its good too, because this loss was… not satisfying.
The Panthers went up 3-0 2-0 to start the game on goals by Sasha Barkov and Vincent Trocheck twice. They dominated the shot count as well, going up 25-8 on attempts in the first period, and finishing the game ahead 67-57. However, the Panthers were just not able to find their way past Joonas Korpisalo often enough, and the Jackets were able to find a way to make a game of it. One would have liked a better game to go with the joy of the trades, but it was not meant to be. Instead, we trudge on to Minnesota tomorrow afternoon.

GREEN: The Legend pulls within three points of Gordie Howe on the all-time points list on Sasha Barkov’s goal. Its real special to see such history unfolding as it happens.

YELLOW: Another great effort put forth by Vincent Trocheck this afternoon. If not a real close offside call, he may have had another to add to this.

RED: Grumble grumble darned Blue Jackets. At least we’ve got shiny new players to look forward to.
