The NHL hasn’t given the city of Las Vegas a hockey team quite yet, but that hasn’t stopped those connected to the project from selecting uniform colors for the future squad. Prospective Vegas owner Bill Foley participated in a social media interview with fans and he revealed three colors the team would be using should they receive approval from the NHL.

Why those three colors? It may be due to the fact they are the same colors worn by the teams at West Point, a school Foley has a strong connection to. He previously considered naming a Vegas team the Black Knights after the school, but he later backed away from that position in favor of letting the fans choose the name. This might be a more subtle way of honoring the school.
It’s pretty difficult to weigh in on the colors without seeing the scheme or logo. Black is a color already used pretty heavily by NHL teams and you have to hope the combination doesn’t end up looking too much like the Bruins or Penguins. Regardless of what logo or color scheme the new team uses (yes, we’re going to go ahead and assume that a team is coming to Vegas), there’s going to be a ton of scrutiny.
