End of Regular Season MLB Team Man Games Lost October 1, 2013

These results conclude our analysis of man games lost for the MLB teams to the end of all games scheduled on September 30, 2013. This is the end of the regular season analysis.

Our analysis is different from the data directly reported by the teams themselves when they’re reporting on man games lost to injury. In our analysis the numbers aren’t as important as the ranking of the team with relation to the numbers.

We’re reporting on actual man games lost to anything, including players who are on the roster and don’t play for any reason (injured, pitching rotation, illness, personal reasons, suspension, etc.). If the player is on the roster and doesn’t play in a game, we count that as one man game lost for the team. In the end, all teams have multiple players (i.e pitchings, other extra roster players) who never make it into the game. The impact on our calculations is negligible as all teams have full pitching rosters and extra bodies (including injuries) that don’t play every game. Also, to remain objective we count a player’s missed games against his current team even if he missed a number of games while on a previous team.
