We’ve compiled our own analysis of man games lost for the NBA teams at the end of the current 2012-2013 season. Our analysis is different from the ones directly reported by the teams themselves when they’re reporting on man games lost to injury. In our analysis the numbers aren’t as important as the ranking of the team with relation to the numbers.
We’re reporting on actual man games lost to anything, including players who are on the roster and don’t play for any reason (injured, illness, personal reasons, suspension, etc.). If the player is on the roster and doesn’t play in a game, we count that as one man game lost for the team. In the end, all teams have multiple players who never make it off the bench. The impact on including those stats in our calculations is somewhat negligible.
