Houston acquires Ty Lawson from Denver

The Houston Rockets have acquired troublesome point guard, Ty Lawson from the Denver Nuggets, the team announces.

The Nuggets have acquired Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson, Kostas Papanikolaou, Pablo Prigioni, 2016 protected lottery first round pick and cash considerations.

The Nuggets waived Pablo Prigioni today.

Lawson was arrested last week for his second DUI this year.

This is a low risk, high reward move for the Rockets. The risk for the Rockets if the league hands down a serious punishment for his actions. Dwight Howard is already suspended for one game at the start of the regular season for throwing an elbow in the Western Conference Finals vs. Golden State.

If Lawson gets his head straight, he can be a dynamic point guard, which he has shown to be. A Harden-Lawson backcourt could be one of the deadliest in the league and lots of breaking ankles.

The Western Conference has just become tougher, once again.
