Green Bay Packers Reportedly Headed To London

Could Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers be taking their talents to London? It looks that way. According to CBS Sports and The Florida Times Union, the Packers are expected to play the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London during the 2016 season, however no formal confirmation has been given.

Since 2007, the NFL has held games outside of the United States every year in what is known as the “International Series”, with the games being played at Wembley Stadium in London, England.  The Jaguars signed a four year contract in 2013 to host one “home game” there every season, with 2016 being the final year of that deal. The Jaguars are also expected to sign a four-year extension to continue hosting games in London, which would run through 2020.

If the Packers do indeed get their game confirmed, they would become the 21st team to play in London. However, with the Jaguars being the “home” team, Green Bay would still have all eight of their home games in Lambeau Field. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see a decent amount of green and gold among the fans, as we know Cheeseheads can get around.

The Packers and Jaguars in England would be an exciting match up for fans all over the world to be able to witness. Green Bay has been one of the best teams in football consistently, while Jacksonville is a young team with plenty of developing talent. One thing’s for sure, Aaron Rodgers would be able to “discount double-check” playing in London, right off his list.
