Ryan O’Reilly Arrested Following DUI

After recently signing the largest contract the Buffalo Sabres have ever dished out a 7-year $52.5 million contract, Ryan O’Reilly finds himself in a bit of legal trouble North of the border.

The Sabres superstar was arrested in Middlesex County on Monday after reportedly driving his truck into a Tim Hortons and driving away. He has been charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

The Buffalo Sabres released the following statement about the situation;

“We are aware of the reports regarding the incident involving Ryan O’Reilly last week. We are currently in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment until we have spoken with all parties involved.”

Since this is O’Reilly’s first offence he is not subject to any jail time, but he could face a variety of a punishments including; a mandatory treatment program, one year minimum requirement to drive a vehicle with an ignition device, $1,000 fine and a license suspension of one year.

O’Reilly is now due in court on August 20th to answer to his charges from the incident which occurred last Thursday night. Following the crash, O’Reilly kept driving before abandoning the truck and fleeing on foot with another person. The truck was connected to O’Reilly through an Instagram picture.
