Dakari Johnson Returning To Kentucky For Sophomore Season

Dakari Johnson never struck me as a one and done guy, and he confirmed that today, announcing that he will return to Kentucky for his Sophomore season. Though he was ranked 9th in his class by Rivals, Johnson is unranked on DraftExpress’s top 100 prospects and is currently pegged to go in the middle of the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft. Johnson doesn’t have great explosiveness or athleticism, though he did manage to shoot 57% from two this past season.

Johnson never got much playing time,  however, playing in roughly one-third of UK’s minutes, and while he was great on the offensive glass in limited time, his NBA ceiling is limited because he cannot score over length very well, and he struggles as a defender. Although coming back to Kentucky was probably the best move for him, it’s tough to see him getting a lot of playing time next year either.
