The Warriors: Greatest Team Ever?

Watch out 95-96 Bulls, the Warriors are coming to take your crown. A high powered, high scoring, high entertaining team led by Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson are well on their way to having the best season ever. The team is currently sitting at 45-4 atop the Western Conference after starting the season with a 24 game winning streak. The Warriors are also an astounding 22-0 at home in addition to being undefeated in their conference. It’s not just the Warrior’s offense that is carrying their team, it is their defense as well. They are currently 2nd in point differential, +12.7, while forcing 14 turnovers per game.(The Bulls point differential was at +12.3 in the 1995-1996 season.)

Wednesday night, we saw Steph Curry looking almost perfect. He dropped 51 points while being guarded by an undervalued John Wall. Curry had eleven 3-pointers, a career high, and only one away from the NBA record. While working mostly on the offensive side of the ball, Curry was also able to pull down 7 rebounds while playing 35 minutes for Golden State. He currently averages 29.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, and 6.4 apg. Curry leads the league in points per game, efficiency rating and is 3rd in rebounds per game for point guards. He was also selected to start in the upcoming All Star game, his 3rd overall. His PER, an incredible 32.2, is almost 3 points more than Michael Jordan’s 1995-1996 PER, 29.4. These kind of stats prove another season of domination by the Warriors and Steph Curry.

Draymond Green, picked for one of the reserves (NBA officially favors the front court), is currently leading the league in triple doubles with ten. While Green has ten triple double just a few games before the All-Star game, Michael Jordan had none, even though he was the MVP for that year. Green is a modest scorer, just 14.5 ppg, however, he is an above average defender. Green averages 9.4 rpg, 4th for power forwards, and 7.4 agp, 1st for power forwards. These stats show the kind of team player Green is which enables Curry to take over the offensive aspect of the game and score 50+.

The Warriors are on track for an incredible season that no one should miss out on watching. The closest team to them in the Western Conference, as well as in the NBA, the Spurs, lost by an outstanding 30 points when they played each other a few weeks back. The Warriors were able to put up 120+ on the number one defense in the league. This team is one that looks unstoppable this season and may continue to be for seasons to come.
