Overpaying The Beast Is What’s Best For Business

It’s rumored that the WWE has already used up all of Brock Lesnar’s contractually agreed upon appearances for the company this year. But given his actions at last Sunday’s Summerslam PPV, and the fact that the Monday Night Raw’s Universal Championship belt has been vacated by an injured Finn Balor, it seems almost necessary for the company to bite the bullet and pay Brock some (possibly) absurd fees for his services.

The Universal championship’s new home is to be decided on the August 29th edition of Monday Night Raw in a fatal 4-way between Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, and Big Cass. I maintain that the company should prolong the vacation of the title, and have the Beast Incarnate interfere and ruin said championship match. Given the fact that Lesnar ultimately beat one of the company’s top draws, Randy Orton, by “T.K.O.” in what was close to a squash match last weekend, it seems to me that the company should let the situation ride for a little longer. And why not also add Chris Jericho to the equation, who reportedly got into a scuffle with Brock when he returned to the backstage area after his match with Orton.

On Monday Night Raw, it’s in the company’s best interest to have Lesnar and Jericho get involved in the 4-way brawl for the belt. Have Brock come in and wreck everyone, making it a no-contest, and have Jericho come down to protect Owens and make an attempt to stand up to Brock. Doing this allows for WWE to not give something of the magnitude away for free on television, and it sets us up for the possibility of a six pack challenge at Night of Champions in late September: Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens vs Big Cass vs Lesnar vs Jericho!

Doing this will be helpful in upping the pay-per-views buyrates, the overall viewership of Monday Night Raw in the weeks leading up to Night of Champions, and it creates the suspense of who will win or get lucky in the six pack challenge. With six competitors in the ring, it could be anyone’s game. Perhaps we could see five superstars gang up on Brock in an attempt to render him useless in said match. Maybe we see Owens and Jericho’s partnership disintegrate before our eyes.

The possibilities are nearly endless and the company would be foolish not to show Brock the money and boost their ratings and buyrates. The Universal title has only been held by one man for one day since its inception. The company should prolong it having no owner and build it up for Night of Champions as the battle of Raw’s finest superstars. It won’t matter who wins it at the PPV, but the money and entertainment are there, if and only if Brock Lesnar ruins the fatal 4-way match on August 29th’s Monday Night Raw. After all, the beating he dealt to Orton suggests that he is indeed Raw’s biggest, toughest, and most vicious performer. Why would you book a fatal 4-way without that performer, when the money will be greater with him also in the mix!
