Eagles Hall Of Fame Calls On Two Legends

Philadelphia- Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that Jeremiah Trotter and Merrill Reese will be inducted into the  Eagles Hall of Fame on November 28 in a game against the Green Bay Packers.

Reese has been the “Voice of the Eagles” for 40 years and is a person who has deserved this for some time. He is currently the longest tenured play by play man in the NFL. Reese is a man who has inspired generations of Eagles’ fans to bleed green on every game day.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said to Philadelphiaeagles.com: “When you think about some of the greatest moments in Eagles history, you can hear Merrill’s voice, living and dying with every play, just like we all do.  What makes him so special, and so engrained in the fabric of our franchise, is how dedicated he is to the team, the fans and his job. Merrill is a legend, and he is the absolute best at what he does.”

Jeremiah Trotter played 8 years for the Eagles and, while doing so, became the heart and soul of the Eagles and beloved by fans of all ages. The Axe Man, as he was known, is one of only a few linebackers in Eagles history to make four Pro Bowls. Trotter also helped lead the birds to Super Bowl XXIX.

“Jeremiah Trotter embodies everything we strive for as an organization. “He was an emotional and inspirational player who captured the hearts of our fans. As an anchor of our defense, he led with an immeasurable amount of toughness and a fiery attitude” said Jeffrey Lurie to philadelphiaeagles.com.

That day in late November will be very special for these two deserving men. However, with that being said, it may turn out to be a sad day. I have a weird feeling in my gut that on that day Merrill will announce that this will be his last season broadcasting  games, which I honestly hope I am wrong.
