Lane Johnson Needs To Man Up

Philadelphia- Saturday, Eagles’ offensive lineman, Lane Johnson, broke his silence about his expected ten game suspension for PED use. The words that came out of his  mouth were a shock to say the least, but not surprising considering his track record of placing the blame on everyone else besides himself.

In his meeting with reporters, Johnson blamed everyone else but himself  for having his A sample come back positive. Johnson stated, “But I want that to be clear, that the NFLPA does not stand up for players. They don’t check the supplements. They give us an app, and then when you call them and ask them if you test positive for something they approve, it doesn’t matter. That’s all I got to say about that.”  He also claims to have brought the supplement in question to the Eagles training staff and all that they did was read the ingredients on the label, but didn’t test it because that would cost thousands of dollars.

The NFLPA issued a statement to CSNPhilly,  “The NFLPA does not approve any supplements or substances. Since 2012 and at the request of player leadership, we have had a partnership with Aegis that provides a mobile app as a resource for players to check listed ingredients on a supplement to see if it is on the banned list. We constantly remind all players that even if a supplement is “checked green” the supplement provider may not list certain ingredients therein that a player can test positive for.”

Any person with common sense knows that the supplement industry isn’t regulated by the FDA or anyone government agency.

This isn’t the first time he has passed the buck so to say. Before the Giants game last year, Johnson met with the media and went off on the recently fired coach, Chip Kelly, and why the team that had so much promise going into the season flopped so badly.  He said that Chip created an atmosphere in the locker room and if anyone criticized the head coach that player’s role would be diminished and eventually be given a bus ticket out of town.  On the same subject, he also mentioned that the uptempo style that Chip ran was hard on the offensive linemen.

He also went off on the fans in 2015, saying that they don’t support the team when they were frustrated with the poor execution during the season. Philadelphia fans are one of the most knowledgeable fan bases in the country, one of the few who break down game tape of a meaningless preseason game and take the losses worse than the players do. Johnson told Birds 24/7,  “If we get down by any significant amount of points or we don’t make any first downs, we’re going to get booed,  That’s just kind of how it is. It’s not really home-field advantage playing here anymore. Really, that’s the truth. Cats here, they really don’t care.”

Lane, it is time for you to keep your mouth shut and use your brain. I hope that the potential loss of $30+ million makes you see the light.  Everyone is responsible for their own actions., Better yet, think before you speak! You are losing this city more and more every day.

So my advice to you? MAN UP!
