Mixed Messages Coming From The Nest

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback situation is a puzzle, wrapped in a riddle, wrapped in an enigma. From day to day, it’s hard to get a grip on who has the upper hand when it comes to landed the starting job. One week it’s one guy, the next week it’s another and, at this point, your guess is as good as mine as to whether rookie Carson Wentz or veteran Sam Bradford will be under center Week 1 when the birds host the Cleveland Browns.

Early reports had Carson Wentz picking up the offense quicker than the incumbent Bradford. Then, before you had time to blink, a story surfaced claiming Coach Doug Pederson was “very impressed with the speed in which the former Oklahoma Sooner, Bradford, was going through the playback and looked to be “the guy” Week 1. But no sooner had we digested that, did yet another report reaffirming that Carson Wentz has a shot at the starting job.

The constant back and forth is enough to make even the biggest fan of QB controversies a bit dizzy. I’m all for the spirit of competition but enough is enough! I don’t want to hear another word about this until there is a definitive answer as to who is going to be number 1 on the depth chart. But until then I’m sure the Philly hopeful will be hanging on the edge of their seats in anticipation.
