The Eagles Have Landed!

The Philadelphia Eagles have taken Carson Wentz with the 2nd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The birds traded all the way up from the 8th spot to pick up the North Dakota State stand out in hopes that the proven winner can be their quarterback of the future, and the just might be right.

Wentz has the build you dream of in your prototypical QB, standing at 6ft 5 inches and tipping the scales at 235 pounds. He also has shocking mobility and speed for someone of his stature and position. He clocked as the 3rd fastest signal caller at the combine. One thing the Eagles were impressed with was his football IQ. The Bismarck native scored and 40 on his Wonderlic test and with a  career TD-INT ratio of 3 to 1 he is adept to making good decision. So truly the only question still left to answer is When will the two time Division 1 AA Championship game MVP become “the guy” in the city of brotherly love.

The Eagles have some what of a conundrum at the quarterback spot with Sam Bradford getting the front loaded 2yr deal that all but guarantees he’ll be the week 1 starter and Chase Daniel’s firmly entrenched as a back up, where does that leave the new edition? Most believe that Wentz will sit behind the former Sooner for a season or two, but if Bradford’s displeasure with the pick up of Wentz and insistence on being traded is to be believed the #2 pick may end up behind center when Philadelphia faces it’s trade partner Cleveland in the season opener. Either way the home of the liberty bell is for some excitement come September.
