What Will Happen To Sam Bradford?

The Eagles have had a revolving door of personnel at the quarterback position for quite some time. It is clear that Carson Wentz is the quarterback of the future, and with the absurd amount of money that he was given, Chase Daniel doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. But what about Sam Bradford? Despite being plagued with injuries and now playing in his 4th new system, there is potential for Sammy Sleeves to have a career year… stat wise. Here is why:

The Offensive Line

One of the cardinal rules of football goes as follows: you don’t block, you don’t move the ball.  Over this offseason the Eagles have made moves to fortify a very thin offensive line corps. The acquisition of Brandon Brooks through free agency, as well as the numerous rookies that were drafted, could be exactly what the doctor ordered to fill the quite literal holes (Matt Tobin and Dennis Kelly) in the pass and run game. This is more important now that Dennis Kelly was traded yesterday to Tennessee for wide receiver, Dorial Green-Beckham. As long as Bradford can get solid protection, he can manage this offense.

Skill Set

Let’s not forget, Sam Bradford was once the offensive rookie of the year.  Yes, I know that it was 2 ACL tears and 6 years ago, but his level of football knowledge is second to none.  With Doug Pederson’s system, Bradford can read the defense, and make adjustments at the line of scrimmage. Combine that with the fact that he can make every throw on the field, and that can lead to a deadly combination at quarterback. Assuming the receivers can catch the ball.

So what does this mean?

Barring an injury, and Sleeves balls out. The Eagles will more than likely try to get something of value for him. Optimistically, the Eagles could get a 3rd, maybe, a 2nd round pick for him.  Seeing as the Eagles have given up so much to get Carson Wentz, it would make the most sense to unload Bradford, should he become a valuable asset.
