Dez Bryant says Friday’s practice will determine if he plays Sunday

Dez Bryant shook out the cobwebs Wednesday, practicing for the first time since he hurt his knee Sept. 25.

The Cowboys receiver practiced on a limited basis, but told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he needed to get out there even if he doesn’t play Sunday at Green Bay.

There is a chance he plays Sunday, depending on how he does at Friday’s practice, but he won’t rush back. The Cowboys (4-1) have a bye next week and host the Eagles in Week 8. While Sunday’s game against the Packers (3-1) looms large, beating the Eagles (3-1) could go a long way toward winning the NFC East and getting a home playoff game.

Bryant has a hairline fracture in his right knee. After catching just one pass in Week 1, he caught seven for 102 yards in Week 2. He suffered the knee injury in Week 3 against the Bears and played through it, but wasn’t 100 percent and caught three balls for 40 yards and a touchdown.

Bryant suffered various injuries last year and was never 100 percent, catching just 31 passes. So he understands the importance of a cautious approach this season, especially with the opportunity for an extra week of rest without missing a game.
