Boston sports legends throw out first pitch at Red Sox opening day

The Boston Red Sox played their home opener against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, the last opening day for designated hitter David Ortiz, who is retiring after the 2016 season. He received a standing ovation during introductions and his daughter surprised him by singing the national anthem.

But the big moment at Fenway Park came when Ortiz was introduced with Bill Russell, Bobby Orr and Ty Law for the ceremonial first pitch.

That’s a lot of championships standing on the mound. Russell won 11 with the Boston Celtics, Orr won two with the Boston Bruins, Law won three with the New England Patriots and Ortiz has three of his own. It was truly a sight to behold, especially for Boston sports fans.
