Kevin Durant tied Michael Jordan for the most playoff misses since 1997

To say Kevin Durant had an off shooting night in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 85-84 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night is an understatement. He shot 7-of-33 from the field and 2-of-11 from the 3-point line. His 26 missed field goals tied Michael Jordan for the most misses in a postseason game since 1997, according to ESPN’s Royce Young.

“Just missed ’em. Just missed ’em,” Durant told reporters after the game. “Everything looked good for me. Coach drew up some good plays. Teammates set great screens. Russell [Westbrook] delivered the ball perfect. It’s on me after that. I’ve just got to make ’em next game.”

“Bad shooting night for me,” Durant said. “It’s a part of it. I wish it didn’t happen tonight, but it’s a part of it. Got some great looks all night and just didn’t knock ’em down. Just stick with my routine, don’t do too much extra, and go out there tomorrow and get ready for practice.”

Jordan shot 9-of-35 from the field and 0-of-8 from the 3-point line and the Chicago Bulls lost 87-80 to the Miami Heat in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals in 1997. Two days later, in Game 5, Jordan missed 20 more shots as he was 11-of-31 from the field.

Let’s see if Durant can bounce back on Thursday when the Thunder have to go to Dallas with the series tied 1-1.
