Kobe Bryant considers Magic Johnson, not himself, as the greatest Laker ever

Kobe Bryant will go down as one of the greats in Los Angeles Lakers history, but is he the greatest ever?

Before Bryant’s last game Wednesday, Hall of Famer and Lakers legend Magic Johnson paid tribute to Bryant at center court of a packed house at Staples Center and called him “the greatest to wear the purple and gold.”

After the game, Bryant said in his final press conference that he doesn’t consider himself the greatest Laker ever. That honor goes to Johnson, who Bryant said will always be No. 1 to him.

Bryant ended his illustrious 20-year career by scoring 60 points in a win against the Utah Jazz. He became the oldest player to record a 60-point game in NBA history, and 60 is the most points a player has ever scored in the final game of his career.

Bryant holds franchise records for most points, games played, field goals made and minutes, and just like Johnson, he was able to bring five championships to Los Angeles.
