LeBron James says he’s too old to get caught up in Pistons’ ‘shenanigans’

LeBron James is handling the comments made by Stan Van Gundy and Stanley Johnson like someone wise beyond their years.

“I’m 31 years old, I don’t get caught up in those shenanigans,” James told reporters Tuesday.

“It’s not about me versus Stan,” he added. “It’s about his teams versus the teams that I’ve been on, and I’m not having an individual matchup with Stan, or an individual matchup with Stanley, or any other Stans they can possess.”

Van Gundy criticized officials in Game 1 for not calling offensive fouls on James. “LeBron is LeBron. They’re not going to call offensive fouls on him. He gets to do what he wants,” Van Gundy said in a sideline interview with ESPN’s Lisa Salters.

Johnson spoke to Van Gundy’s point when he said James tried to throw him to the floor and the officials called him for the foul instead.

“Obviously, he got the call and it’s whatever but, for me, that was like, ‘Wow.’ I’ve never had a person grab my jersey and try to throw me to the floor, and then I come up on the wrong end of things,” Johnson told the Detroit Free Press. “”It’s LeBron. That’s the explanation (for the call).”

The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Detroit Pistons 106-101 in Game 1 Sunday. They will meet again for Game 2 on Wednesday.
